The Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company 46 was founded on March 17, 1934 to protect the town of Moorefield, West Virginia and its surrounding area. This small department began operations with a horse drawn "hose wagon" and later a 1934 Seagrave suburbanite pumper, which the department still owns today.
Company 46 runs an average of 200 calls per year. No EMS calls are ran by the department, however the fighting 46 is sometimes dispatched on various types of automatic EMS calls and others as needed.
The Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2014.
The Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company responded to 175 calls in 2017.
